"Green" Homes Tour

This past Sunday Prince Edward County held a tour of 'green' homes. It was nice to see what other people have done. The homeowners opened their homes to the public. The house in the picture below was featured on the Discovery channel with David Suzuki. Their home is off grid with solar panels and a wind turbine. They have straw bale walls and a green roof.

This next house is grid tied with solar panels and 2 wind turbines. He doesn't sell his surplus back to hydro, he just lets him meter run backwards and then draws from his credit when needed.


The next home had a 900 watt wind turbine. The wind turbines I was were surprisingly quiet.


This home is off-grid. Solar panels and a 3000 watt wind turbine.

Tracy planted a vegetable garden for me this weekend. I'm anxious to see what comes up. The trick will be to eat the produce before the rabbits do.
